How to remove Lister CS flywheel keys effortlessly.......
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:51:33 PM »
Having recently acquired a spares donor Lister VA from Spencer 1885, this was just the opportunity I needed to try out my never being out of the box genuine Lister CS flywheel key removing tool.

It took less than 5 minutes to pull each key.

Compared to other flywheel removing tools that are presently being offered elsewhere, this item beats them hands down for speed and ease of use.

Try opening an album in the listerenginegallery link at the top of the page. If I can do it you can do it for sure.

click on the insert image icon as it appears you did, you notice that the img/img in inside two sets of square brackets [ ] [ ]  separate them between the two sets & insert ypur image code between & that should do it.

Thats exactly what I tried first of all, and got the same result as you. Anyway I have now also placed these photos in the Lister engine gallery as well.

^ Indeed!, Just to see how good this item was I didn't bother with any pre-treatment works ie no cleaning up the keyway groove, no heating the hub, or hitting it with a hammer etc. Although the keys were tight, I was able to remove all of them with the 1/2" ratchet you see hanging off the end of the tool.

The hydraulic puller you also see, although being at the limit of its size capacity dealt with pulling the flywheel, and flat belt pulley with ease.

WILL YOU PEOPLE STOP USING WATER DISPLACER 40 AS A LUBRICANT!

Spit is better.

Ear wax lasts longer.

Bacon fat kicks its hams.

Just in case you have some diesel or WVO you'd have a far superior penetrator.  But don't mix any kerosene in with the diesel or ATF because then you'll have something that sells for over a buck an once.  Once you consider how much it costs to deliver an aerosol can to a retailer you can appreciate the cost of the crap inside.

Oh, congratulations on getting the gibs out.  I would like to see a picture.  Maybe a link to sales site.
