Hello to all from the Philippines,i am a Canadian living in Davao City .We have a restaurant business and needed a generator due to the constant brown outs. A Lister would not meet my needs so i ended up with a 30Hp Chinese diesel engine {Jiangsu Changgong CG 1130} and hooked it up to a 20kVa gen hear. I removed the water cooling tank of the engine and made up an adapter plate to hook up to a automotive radiator,no pump just hydrosiphon. She runs under full load at a temperature between 80 and 88C. I also removed the diesel tank of the engine and put it on a shelf. The unit has run excellent, can't see any smoke out of exhaust at all, just at start up.She is loud even though i have the exhaust and air intake mounted on the outside of the generator shed.I still have to wear hearing protection. The unit produces 220 volt at 60 hertz with the engine running at 1580rpm and the gen head at 1780
Now i would like to ask a couple of questions.
We use coconut oil for cooking and thus have what could be a cheap source of fuel. What steps do i have to take to be able to use this fuel aside from filtering the crap out of it,dewatering it and preheating before sending into engine?t
What is the best way to make sure drive belts are at proper tension?
Is their a way to be able to remote start these engines what with having to manually engage the decompression lever when starting these engines?
I put synthetic oil in the engines crankcase for the added heat protection, any problem with that?
I am just using the AVR that is on the 20kVa gen head and find that i have to stay with the generator and make toddle adjustments due to rising and falling voltage.I guess this would be due to the 6 appliances that have cooling compressors kicking on and off. Is their an AVR that will adjust the voltage as needed?
If any of my questions seen "way out there" please forgive me as i am new to power generation. I will try to post some pictures of my setup soon.
