Amazing what they paint over aint it? Oven cleaner from the dollar store will strip the rest of that paint if you desire. If you cant find Gyptol for a decent price this is what I used. Came from WW Grainger, same stuff, different Mfg.Used it inside and out dries hard as glass.

cgwymp,After needle scaler, pressure washing is great. After that I couldn't feel any trace of grit on the castings.RH
I’m curious about the surface texture of the casting. Is this a result of the needle cleaning, environmental exposure, or are the castings like that from new?
I didn’t realise they were that bad! I’ve never actually seen a Listeroid, I’m used to handling Dursley castings. So they use filler to smooth all that over before painting?
