i have a lister cs6 1 engine that needs rebuilding. it has sat outside for some years. it will not turn over due to corrosion on the valve gear and push rods. any advice about about stripping the engine down and improvements i can make in the rebuild? where can i get a service manual and are any special tools needed? any help would be appreciated

Komet as for manuals got to this site http://www.internalfire.com/  It has about any manual you could want and more. They are free to down load but they are always looking for donations to keep the museum open and for improvements. Mike DD

Hi komet,  No special tools are required but a set of whitworth spanners . Take time and patience when dealing with rusted or siezed parts,a good gas blowtorch to apply heat to stuck components and a decent releasing agent to soak parts will help too.

At the end of the day it is a Lister diesel engine built to be abused for years workwise and is built like a tank.

The manual will be a great help.

Hope this helps
