Startomatic - Compression release ?

Did the 6/1 Lister startomatics provide any automated decompression when the gen head acted as a starter motor?
Just wondering if the starter had to overpower the compression stroke.

Yes, the decompressor is operated by a solenoid at start up. The compression changeover valve is left in the low compression position though.
