Oil ring or set needed for 6/1 GM-90
« on: August 30, 2010, 09:08:24 AM »
Chipped one of my oil ring edges during dis-assembly for a move last year.

GM-90 6/1, Alloy piston, DI, uses 5 rings, same ring size 6/1 CS.
1 & 2 compression, 3 is a scraper, 4 & 5 oil rings (Chipped edge on 5)

Looking for a set or just the oil ring.

Hi Spark Chaser,

I've got some four ring sets for the 6/1 (Std & 020) on my web site, which isn't
quite what you want and if only for the oil ring would be an expensive way of
getting one. Sorry I can't realy help, but hopefully somebody in the group will
have a spare they no longer need in some forgotten box of odds and ends.

Geoff,

Thanks for the reply.
Figured that I might have to liberate the one oil ring from a STD set but would check here first.

Hastings makes a set available here in the US.
Central Maine Diesel also shows a listeroid set on their web site.

Have saved your web site for possible future needs.

Hi,

I have the oil rings available separately. You can buy from here http://www.stationaryengineparts.com/Piston-ring-set-6-1-8-1-12-2-and-16-2...114.3mm.html

Make sure you see the drop down menu for the options available. I am happy to ship almost anywhere in the world, the websites checkout handles most locations ok.

If I were you, I'd hone the cylinder and install a new ring set.

Food for thought as it's already apart and the difference in $$$ and effort is minimal.
