Looking for Petteroid
« on: November 25, 2009, 03:31:48 AM »
Hi,

I'm trying to find anyone in Canada or the USA who sells Petteroids.
In particular I'm looking for a 3.5, 6.5, or 8HP water cooled unit for a project.
I am aware of the inherent problem (runaway governor, leaks, etc...)
Anyone know of a supplier.?  (I don't have the experience or the desire to try and import one myself).

Thanks,
Veggie

There is only 1 complete Petteroid in Canada, maybe two if you count a pair of used Kryslar engines, current status unknown ( rebuild in progress ).

Send me a PM we can talk.

I have one complete Kryslar PH1W, except for the serial number plate. but am currently short of $$$ to complete the rebuild. The other Kryslar is a rebuilt shortblock my neighbour owns. The local dumb *ss Amish small engine dealer sent one and 1/2 Kryslar engines to the dump.

The entire top end according to my neighbor. I've never been allowed access into the shed housing his hidden stash of assorted prize items. Judging by what is piled around the rest of the place. A scrap sale a couple of years ago would have raised thousands without touching anything that was actually restorable.
He's a nice enough but eccentric character.
It's just been one series of repair bills around here for the essentials for the past couple of years. Which leaves the un-essentials to wait for a later day. The Solar 225KW gas turbine project needs some care too.
Not that I'm complaining, I thank the Almighty for countless blessings we do have.

So head block liner piston and rings right?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have to give this some thought I have the spares not sure if I am ready to part out the DM10 just yet. But they aren't going anyplace. Why couldn't you need something easier like bearings or an injector lol

Just a thought after watchig the worlds fastest Indian.....

Find cast Iron pipe and maybe that could be machined to the correct size liner?

Then carve a rod from prop for a B29.....

The cylinder block, rod, piston etc is all there along with the crankcase. Just the head assembly is missing. Condition of the fuel system is unknown.

As far as I know until until the owner lets me see and purchase the engine.
#1 Depends on the mood of the owner which is highly variable. #2 As much as I want the "putting" thing, other projects take priority for a while. Sorry.
