After much thought about how nice a 50 pound note would look in my pocket if I could prove you wrong I am inclined to blame Khobals. They brake lots of things around my home....

My spelling of names for "Evil Germanic knomes that live undground and come up under cover of night to cause mischif" may be at fault....

I use this at work to explain many problems.

One time the the Superintendent walks into the hoist room where I working and says "whats wrong with the skips?"
I told him "the BRT is broken and the IMs (Industrial Mechanics) are comming in to repair there end of it"....
Next morning he comes back to the mine and sits in on the meeting and asks how long it took to repair the BRT.
No one knows what he's talking about because a BRT is a "Big Round Thing" aka the hoisting drum I was pointing at...
He still hates me lol.

Well it happened where the main meets the throw....hmmm. I will assume that Lister QC would have caught a bad crankshaft, fair enough?

With little more to go on, my guess would be that this unit was installed in late October. It was Monday morning and the guys were recovering from their third Oktoberfest weekend.

On installation the flywheel kissed the ground or slab as it was being lowered into place. Lots of leverage on the crank and the mass of the flywheel for a split second made the fracture that eventually failed in service. Yes, vibration facilitated it but the fracture was the root cause.
Mistakes are the cost of tuition.

Gee Bob your out of date!!!!

Still using obsolite kanibbler pins when when can get gimble gussets made to order in your choice of upsydasium for weight critical aplications and unobtanium for impossible tasks.
