rpm for 2.5k out of 195 chanfa

hello all, one ? for chanfa 195 users, what would be optimum rpm to get 2.5k continuous from 195 eng? gen is 8 pole single bearing. blink

the 195 is rated at 2000rpm at ~8.8kwatt or so

it will carry a direct drive st head at a bit over 7kwatts

therefore at about 1000rpm it will carry about 3.5kwatts, but just barely
because the engine is running at about the low limit of its design

it runs much better with 1200rpm being the low rpm limit, and make abut 4 kwatts dependably

you cannot run it slow enough to make only 2.5 kwatt electrical in my opinion

the balance shafts are optimized for ~1500 rpm in my opinion, 2000 is a bit fast and 1000 is about as low as you can go
and not have it beat/shake itself apart.

btw, there are idi and di versions of the 195, there may be some differences between the two types in how low rpm they will run?

i would like to also add

2.5 kwatt is not a good load for a 195 no matter what the rpm
the cost per kwatt hour in fuel consumption is quite a bit higher than a 6/1 at that load

they start to compete well with a 6/1 in fuel economy (gr/kwatt/hr) when you get over about 4- 5kwatts output.

if i were you i would keep ahold of it, you will find a use for it sooner than later.

i have 5 of them, and a line on 3 more that i could trade for.
i really like the 195 engine
