Lister Identification help
« on: July 18, 2009, 01:15:04 PM »
I need some help in identifying a Lister. It is 500 miles away and the owner is 82 years old with no internet connection (experience). I might be able to get a picture if I call around and get someone to go look at it. Here is the information he gave me.

2 cylinder 1800rpm
Direct coupled to a 1800 rpm generator.
Model # 6215SR2A21
There is a #BS649 on the ID  plate.

He is searching for a manual to fix the problem it has. It will loose diesel into the crankcase while it is running.
Runs excellent but wants to fix the problem.
Any information will be appricated!
Thanks
Dave

This is SR2 twin cylinder engine.

There are discussion about this leak, common than I realized.

Rebuild parts needed so you can replace the seals while going in repairing the leaks.  Need fuel injector lines and other stuff etc to repair just in case leak is found due to vibration-hardened that cracked.  SR2 need to have fins clean and cowlings snugged nice and tight around cylinders and anything else for even cooling.  Overheating thins the oil too much, fuel leak does as well.

Common failures were fuel pump diaphragm (lift pump) or broken injection pump feed pipes or injector pipe.

Many thanks guys! And it looks like it may be a common problem that he will be able to easily identify. Are parts available out there? I think I spotted a manual for him at

Thanks again for the quick response!

Hi Peter! Hope things are going good your way!

Xyzer I just picked an SR1A21 S/N 5266SR1A21 with the same problem.

Seems to be common problem for that series.

I also picked up 2 LPA3 engines (1 running the other missing injection pumps) along with the SR1. Engines were removed from light towers.

The hole lot was sold to me for scrap value $20 from work.  Plus a genuine new-in-the-box lister petter injection pump for the SR1
