Listeroid price and avail in US 2009?
« on: July 15, 2009, 03:03:54 PM »
I have been reading thru the forums for a few weeks taking notes on sources for Lister type engines and I see quite a few importers that no longer have engines. If I understand correctly EPA regs have limited the availibility of imported engines.   I have gone nuts and have a couple of chinese diesels in route and I think I am ready to purchase a Listeroid.

Here are the few links I cut and pasted from the lister parts thread , if there are other sellers with these engines avail currently could you please post a link, phone number and aprox price?

Not sure it has anything to do with EPA regs.

My guess is it's more about businesses that have chosen to go different directions primarily due to quality control issues coming out of India.

I would like to know more about the EPA issues , I have read numerous post that mention that the imports have stopped due to EPA regs and the "kit engine" as the solution and a number of refrences that this only applys to mobile engines and or engines over 30 hp .

Panacea,

There was a big to-do a couple of years ago about an EPA import ban.

I would be if you go back and look at the dates of the messages you read, you'd find they are older messages.

It was my understanding that the importing issue had been resolved as long as the engines have an emissions sticker on them.

Anyone care to confirm?

Also, check ebay as that is another source of engines that go through fairly regularly.

Good luck!

Steve

Thats correct apogge as long as a EPA sticker is present and the manufacturer as well as importer are both willing to do the paperwork on each end

I seem to remember some bad reports about oldstylelisters.

Can anyone verify that?
