Hello,
I restore vintage hit-n-miss engines as a hobby and have always been a DIY'er. I've lurked here off and on and posted a time or two. Last Saturday I finally found a Lister at a auction. It's a Lister-Blackstone CD 8hp engine. It's loose and looks to be complete. The combustion release is stuck, and the injector pump looks to need a little cleaning, but it looks like this engine is a keeper. It was a direct mount generator engine at one time. I also got a reprint of the owners manual that was in the literature that sold separately. The really cool thing about the book is the gentleman that had last owned this engine (it was a estate sale) had taped a page into the front of it, and had documented the previous owners! The first owner was a theater in Cope Colorado! I figure it was a back up gen-set or maybe a used to carry some of the load of the facade of all the lights it surely had! The other 2 owners, before the gentleman I bought it from, where both private collectors in Goodland Ks. (The auction was in Brewster Ks., between Goodland and Colby Ks.) Yes I did "add" my name, address and date of purchase to the list.
Does anybody have parts for these engines? I know the British made Listers had British threads and the such, I haven't checked to see if this was a "kit" made engine from England or a American made engine (stored off site right now).
The tag says:
Model: CD
RPM: 1200
HP: 8
S.N.: 5182
I'm hoping to set this engine up as a backup generator or if I stumble onto a place in the county, then I might go off grid with it!
Anybody got one of these or have parts for one?
Thanks!
Richard
