WGB,

Looks good, do you have it bolted down?  It doesn't seem to shake much.

Thanks Carl,
The big I beams and 12KW head makes it pretty heavy.
It did want to walk some, I just cut 4 pieces if 3/4" heater hose & stuck under the 4 corners, that took care of the walking.
I'd like to make it semi-portable, not sure how that will work.
I think his name is rocketboy has one one on a trailer, but I think he did some high teck balance work, that type set up is what I'd like.

Well I was impressed with the project - I think youve done very well

What was the final length of your I Beams?

Tension wrench settings you said were spec when you reassembled the engine?
So what tensions did you finally use and the source of the information?

Thanks Gizmos
 Beams are 5 1/2" wide  8 1/2" tall  46" long
guess that would be about 14 cm x 226 mm x 1169 mm

Can't find or remember for sure
Torque / Tension
Head was around 150 to 170 ft lbs.
Smaller bolts fell into the 18 to 28 ft lbs range.

Thanks WGB - a local steel merchant offered to precut and drill and punch out sections for my frame for no
charge - cost of steel only - so I thought I'd go as close as I can and make a wooden template they can use to setup the
computerised controlled machine they use.

Thanks for the tension settings - your unit looks great!!

WGB,

You've done some fine work on your gen set! I'm sure you'll get a great return for you efforts. I'm thinking of doing a complete tear down and work over once I get my gen room built.

I'm curious about your pairing up of engine to gen head. That's a 6/1 with a 12kW, correct? You planning on moving up to a larger engine in the future, or are you just gonna use a 1/3 of the gen heads potential? ???

Take care to use heavy enough wiring to carry the load, I'd stick with 10 gauge min. if you producing 4kW or more. Some of the wiring I saw in your pics looked a bit light.

All in all, looks like your doing a Pro Job! Keep us updated when you can.

Thanks for the kind words!
The small wire was man I gotta see this run thing!!
I now have a breaker box with #6 from the generator to the breaker box, and # 10 to 120V outlets and #10 to a 20 amp 125/250 v receptacle. I'll post some pics
I wanted to keep voltage drop to a min
The 12kw was bought to make a PTO gen set, then I came across the engine.
I would really like a Redstone to drop on this frame with the 12 kw then get a 5 or 7KW for the Listeroid

Okay,

Now it all makes sense, I could tell you knew what you were doin', which made me go "HUH???" ;D

Redstone would be a good fit to the 12kW. I'm workin' on a brother in-law, trying to intice him into one them! He loves my Lister but wants more power than that.

Looking forward to the new pics.

I added some better wiring, the generator will be portable for a year or so, then I'll isolate panel from the vibration.
