That my friend , is the holy grail of Listerdom !!!  It is a CS start-o-matic set , direct coupled DC dynamo. Year of manufacture is difficult to state without the engine number.

Sigh......I've said it before many times but again, it bears repeating for newbies.   Lister made bazillions of these and shipped them all over the world.  THEY ARE OUT THERE!  Many housewives are saying "get that thing out of the shed, I want to fill it up with pots!" (or something like that)  That's exactly how I found Penelope. ;D

Scour the back alleyways!   Put ads in the newspaper!  Go to farm auctions!  Save these beautiful old girls before the rest of them end up as cheap chinese coal fired generating plants. ???

My Lister was set up exactly like that.  That's why it doesn't have the twin belt grooves in the flywheel.  I'd love to have the original generator that came with it, direct drive would be perfect.

That is not a Start-O-Matic set as such, it is a Lister-Bruston automatic lighting plant with remote starting.

The Start-O-Matic sets are belt drive and have the two control boxes with them, this one has the 'proper' slate switchboard and is direct drive.

We have a CD Lister 110V DC set which is very similar, particularly in respect of the big solenoid for the compression change-over and the switchboard.

That setup is used on the CD and CE engines as well, but it breaks with age, and leaves it all hanging in the breeze!

It must weigh a few pounds, a big CI casting and a huge solenoid, 110V DC in our case.

Hello again!

Could you anyone say, what is this Lister+dynamo combination weight?

Then I can search enough strong trailer, that I can move home this Lister.

I'd go a bit higher than that, the dynamo is probably as heavy, if not more, than the engine, and that's a cast base.

I think we have a wiring diagram that would work, it's almost the same as our switchboard, just seems to be missing the lower section.

I based that estimation on the weight recorded for my SOM when I weigh-bridged it at 980 KG including tanks etc after collection last year. The  Lister Bruston version would probably be lighter due to no flywheel on the dynamo , I think the base is shorter and in the case of Tatu's engine no tanks.
