Have you checked your piston to head clearance?

Is it about what Atul quoted?

Was the mark on the piston from a valve?

Were you using that close off a valve clearance?

On my 10/1 I use the 6/1 specks even though it calls for .oo8 Inch. I am running a probably to close to the head piston clearance.

By the way what is your cylinder index?

... the inlet push rod is longer than the exhaust push rod. I do not know if it is possible to somehow reverse these and cause the valve/piston contact.

That is not possible.

With the decomp lever engaged and piston at tdc push down on the rocker above the exhaust valve. There should always be some movement before the valve hits the piston.

At the end of the exhaust stroke where the intake valve begins to open is where my intake valve comes closest to the piston. Roll the engine through while pushing down on the valve. Make sure there is always some clearance.

My valve lash get bigger as the engine warms up. The cylinder gets hot and the push rods do not.

Thanks, Geno

to all

When I set up my 10/1 I had to grind some off the decompressor lifter holder upper in order to get some exhaust valve to piston clearance but that is because of not using the correct bump clearance............

I  seem to remember thinking if I used the .008 inch valve clearance I would have been pushing my luck so I used the 6/1 numbers.
