need help with my lister d type

 over the last 2 weeks i have stripped it down fully checked over my lister d type and found that the big end had gone so I have got a new bush for it. it is a Phosphor Bronze bush are they any good

Secondly before I restored it. It was smoking quite a bit this seemed to start when I toped the oil up I dident over fill it I just put enough in to fill it to the oil here level the oil I used was 20w50 motor oil what should I use in it (there is little or no wear in the piston and rings and bore) so I don’t think it could be that

finaly before I restored it. It run ok it would tick over good but it would sometimes cough and splutter and backfire threw the carb I have re seated the valves and cleaned all the muc out of it will this help

Hi , this is not really the best site for the D type , our specialty is diesel Listers , more specifically the CS. Try the stationary engine forum or similar.
