Bears generally run away, I have had quite a few "close encounters" and the result is the bear hightailing it for the other side of the world. Had one last Sunday actually grab or swat at my stupid Noma moonray (a solar charged LED light on a stick that you can place in the garden to glow at night) and I found it in the middle of my drive. Then I found the bear. He was out front of my house when I pulled out to go the engine show and he jumped over the side of the bridge and was gone. He has been hanging around lately though and been trying to get into the little chip truck around the corner tearing some siding off etc. Local residents thought it was me trying to get in for a midnight snack but thats not the case LOL.

You have nice cudly bear Toys in the UK because of a liittle female bear named Winni who was a mascott for the 1st Canadian battalion in the great war.
Winni became the inspiration for Winni the Poo......

Bears are not agrassive but they opertunists and will eat anything....

Bears also make good sauage (  they actauly grind meat and pack in casings ), not but they are good eating. And fair is fair they eat people so we return the favour.

You want some bears, Phone the MNR they may help if you cover the freight....

Thanks , never knew that about Winni the Poo !!  Suppose bear cubs are cute so that also could be a reason for toy bears. Thinking about it , there are cuddly Lion and other predatory animal toys. Funny how humans transform the dangerous into the harmless for kids !!

Better known as rat poison.
Basically the stuff makes the intended target bleed internally to death .
A most unpleasant way to expire.

Bears in Parry Sound figured out the automatic doors in the grocery store and would enter and help themselves then leave...
This infuriated the grocer (because they never paid for anything i suppose) and he made the Ministry of Natural Resourses install a bear trap outback...
They baited the trap with day old donuts from timmys...
Rumour has it that they caught 3 cops the first night...
Cheers

I have no use for them but they can be cute.
Grind them up and season well they make a fanstic sausge. Realy I am not kidding.....
Bob cats too they taste good and I understand the old joke about no cats around a Chinese resturant if house cats taste that good.
Deer are cute ( and tastey )

But eat a dog or a horse and your soime kind of monster.

Sharks are not cute, but my wife likes the fins on a BBQ ( only fish she will eat ).

I dunno I seperated cute from tastey years ago and never let big brown eyes sway me again lol.

I draw the line at road kill.

Since its Dominion Day I thought I would throw up some links to some Canadiana for those who never vissited. And the fire works here are starting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHOZHAb7VpM
( charming slag pile is in my home town the Nickel City )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6WYHagWdeE
( yes Paul Grose is in every Canadian movie )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR2WxTf-HrY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnMWShonK5E&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYSkKtQYafE
( its a realy beautiful Carillon sadly no one seems to have a modern clip of it being played. At the base of the tower stands an honour guard who every day flips a page in a book with all the names of the men who went to fight great war and never came home. That would also be nice in a video.... )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiHty3ROQXk
( Cold war faught on ice as all should )

Now you seen all the bites and trailers see the country !

In a few days it will be American Independents Day, so let me be the first to reach across say have a great day to our friends across the boarder.

I have a local black bear on my property; we've observed him a few times.   And he frequents the neighbors trash cans, or so we're told.   But the bear is not what I worry about.   Once while out walking by my creek, I was startled by a big tom turkey (not unusual to see turkey around here either).  I went the other way because he was being sort of agressive.   About an hour later when I came back to the same area, there was a big fresh complete turkey skeleton.   What critters in southern Oregon eat whole grown male turkeys and leave only the skeleton intact, without making a sound?  Hmmm....   That means there was a real big kitty somewhere watching me and Mr. Turkey earlier.....

Now I always carry a Ruger 357 Magnum when I'm out there by myself.   Simple but effective and versatile, and I don't go broke when I plink w/ 38 SP.   I keep the first 2 chambers filled w/ snakeshot, which has come in handy around the rattlesnakes.

Re: warfarin:   actually rl71459, warfarin or Coumadin is a very common drug besides being rat poison.   We use it all the time for patients with atrial fibrillation or artificial heart valves who are at risk for developing blood clots that could go to their brains and cause strokes.   It's sometimes fun to see the look on patient's faces who don't know they are actually taking a "rat poison pill" daily.

P.S.  Can you Canadians still buy ammo?!   I mean, stores have been sold out around here for months, and it's getting real old!

Ammo has been in short supply in stores all over the U.S. ever since Obama came into office.   Actually even before that.   There are many theories:  supply vs. demand w/ people hoarding because of Obama administration's view on gun control, U.S. military buying up ammo for the "war" leaving not enough for us, and more sinister conspiracy theories, etc.   At any rate, I haven't been able to buy 357 or 38 Special ammo in our town for a while, and it's also been difficult for family in Calif to buy there as well.   Even .22 boxes in Wal-Mart get bought up as soon as they hit the shelves.   Don't tell me this hasn't been talked about on this forum before?   I wasn't following closely for a while.    Maybe it's time to drive up to Canada!   Or is it illegal to buy ammo in a different country?
