Animal fat
« on: March 27, 2009, 11:23:37 AM »
The other day after frying up some bacon, which I try to stay away from, I wound up with 10 oz. of fat that I filtered through some cloth and coffee filters while it was hot. before it started to congeal I mix some rug with it but turned solid within an hour in the cold. Anyone try burning animal fat in their diesel? Its obvious you would need heat with this stuff.

Aaaah, you'll be needing to read the story of the Lord of Lard himself....

Grab yourself a big pot of tea (or coffee, if you haven't got any tea), about 2 or 3 hours of time, and get on over to this thread here: http://www.navitron.org.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1319.0.html

He's not using a Lister, but he is running a diesel engine on lard. and, as you surmised, he heats his fuel to liquify it. And has lots of fun when the engine stops unexpectedly, whilst running on lard...
