Another 'WONDER' engine ..............
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:01:08 AM »
I've often pondered on this concept and wondered if someone would ever try it , they have !!  Very novel , excruciatingly complex , frightening to consider in maintenance terms and potential long term durability issues. These animations are impressive though and worth watching in their own right !!

The surface speed on the brgs and seals along with the combustion pressures, kill this idea before it ever gets off the drwg board.
A 15" dia. rotor seal at 3000 rpm would be traveling 13744 sfpm.  How about a rotor explosion.

Now that would make a great utube video, as long as it was done ala vw exploding motor shows.  (meaning precautions were taken so no one got hurt)

Turbocombustion Engine

At least someone finally put the cam lobes on the crankshaft.  Neat graphics and sound.
