SK Bushing Help!!!
« on: January 22, 2009, 01:50:02 PM »
Hi all,

I am trying to get some QD- SK 38mm bushings for the ST5s to mount the Utterpower type Serpentine pulley.

I live in Oz and the problem is the only supplier is very expensive and then the bushings they have need to be drilled for the shaft size???!!!!! (extra expence)
The shipping from the USA is expensive as no one will just send via normal post.
Chinese suppliers want me to buy min 500 units.

Does anyone know of a supplier of these anywhere in the world that is reasonable in price?

regards,
Matt

Matt,
This is the place, (link below)
I believe the part # for the QD 38mm  bushing is Q1 38mm
Less than $30.
When I bought mine it was free shipping on orders of $25, or more :) Not to Oz  I'm sure :)
Just use the "contact us" email, they were very helpful. Maybe will ship in an affordable manor ;D

I used a 16J80Q  Browning 16 grove pully and  industrial serp belt, 1 1\2" wide belt  (lots of surface contact)
and a Q1 38MM Browning split bushing.

I bought my pully off Ebay then had to figure out what kind of bushing fit it, made a trip to WW Grainger to determine it was a "Q"
Grainger did not have 38MM but could order with 4 month delivery Maybe.
I found this place(E. B. Atmus Co., Inc.) to get the bushing, they only had one in stock.
They did say it was a stock item for them ,so they would have more by now.
They also carry that big pully for about twice what I paid, now it is $156.
No chirping on the flywheel!!
The belt was another $90 with shipping from my local bearing supply house, had to be ordered from their supplier "up North".
I have all the specifics on the belt if anyone's interested.

The Q1 38mm is past 3\4 down this long page, go to the Q's it is  listednumerical and alphabetical

Hi guys thanks for the info.

I will try the link Petersbpus and see how I go.

I will also try the UK supplier...didn't think of him
As for  Scotty, he wants to buy some of my pulleys, so I doubt he has any bushes in stock at the moment.

thanks again,
Matt

Matt,

Looks like Scotty's not yet up to speed.

There's also Darren Hill in NZ:

Yes the US seprentine solution is a good idea if you live in the USA.

The QD-SK bushing can be supplied in qty by Naismith Australia but you need an account or alternatively talk to your local industrial supplier about getting them in for you - I bought one off the street for $50 AUD from an engineering shop but you need to machine it as it only has a pilot bore - but it beats the hell out of waiting for one from the US.
http://www.naismith.com.au/product/locking/index.htm

I am shifting to L series rather than K serpentine as L can handle the lower RPM HP - Naismith tell me that a 6 groove poly rib belt on L series pulleys and std industrial 2517 locking bush with 38mm bore and 10mm keyway
http://www.naismith.com.au/product/locking/bush/index.htm
I ordered some bushes in a for a client and I think I charged $25.00 $AUD
I have been experiementing with 8 groove L series pulleys 224 236 250 t ofind the sweet spot on the CS10/1 to work in harmony
with the ST-5 to run 240v 50hz - more will be posted when the testing is completed
You will find these a readily obtainable in Australia and the locking bushes are premachined for 35mm bore. Naismith engineers say 8 looks good but 6 groove will do the job on a CS10/1 driving a ST-5 at 680 - 750 rpm

PS I have a spare serpentine pulley and QD-SK locking bush if anyone chasing one - obviously nearby because of the weight.

I hope this helps
