If the 180 engine still has a cooling hopper on it drain it completely, close the drain tap and pour in a kettle full of boiling water.  Then try to start it.  That ought to put enough heat into the head and cylinder to get 'er to go.

About the only thing I haven't tried is the injector timing.  It looks like everything else is good.  Trouble is, I have no freaking clue how to adjust the injector.  Any words of wisdom out there?

There must be quite a charge of fuel in the cylinder by now. Try a whiff of ether keeping the decompression on, wait a minute then try to start as usual.

I've on occasion had to restart diesels that have been run out of fuel on sub zero degree days & when I have problems starting I will take a rag & pour some gasoline (petrol) into the rag, don't soak it just get it "wet" then place it over the air intake, with the filter in place so as to prevent it from being sucked into the engine, & crank it over, often the gasoline will assist in starting the engine without the detremental effects of using ether (starting fluid).

My Changfa 195 users manual recommends that you "DO NOT start a fire under the engine to help start it on cold days".!
To get to the point where they have to make a statement in a manual probably means that a lot of people in Asia were actually doing this. :o

after reading your last post i had to reread my last post to make sure i didn't say any thing about lighting the gasoline soaked rag! if that was the impression you got please do not set fire to the rag, the idea is to let the more volitile gasoline vapors enter the chamber & help to ignite the diesel spray from the injector.

In the "old days" building a fire under or next to an engine was a common way of "preheating" an engine to help start on cold days & no i would not recommend it even on a lister/oid.
