valve clearance on chinese diesel
« on: December 08, 2008, 03:10:36 AM »
I've got a JD R180A with a manual in Chinese.  I haven't been able to find a translation anyplace and can't figure out what the valve clearance is supposed to be.  After sitting on this for a year, I want to get this back up and running.  Thanks for any info.

Kelly,
I also have a R180 project on hold while others have taken priority,
I went and dug out my manual, OH OH all in Chineese :o
I could check the current clearances, It has been well broken in but never touched the valve adjustments.
my 1115 is Intake .035 exhaust .045.  I would venture a guess  on the 180,,,.
any difference would be a factor of the total length of the push rods and valve stems :-\
so maybe .025 and .035 ? just be sure at full temp there is still clearance.

Thanks Bob.  I'll try those clearances and see how it works.   I've still got a fair bit to do until I can try running it.  There's a new stand on the way (painted bright red) and I need to figure out the cooling situation.  I've got a 30 gallon water heater that I need to strip to the bare tank and ad hoses to, not to mention decide how best to keep it upright.  We'll see!

the changfa s195 has the following specs

.016" inlet
.019"exhaust

i would expect the 180 series to be a bit less

maybe
.014" intake
.016" exhaust
is probably very close to spec, certainly close enough for the girls i run with :)
