Regards, Tacho.  Most decent mutimeters have a frequency range.  Most plug in power meters have a frequency read out (Killawatt etc?).  So no dedicated tacho required is long as the generator is working, just set the output frequency to 50 or 60Hz as appropriate.

It might sometimes help if you give your location somewhere in the posts or in your profile.  Cambridge is in England.

From what I know,, the ST can spin cw or ccw.. The brushes are up and down, and the cooling fan will move air each way.
