Lister Generator
« on: October 31, 2008, 01:14:04 PM »
I have just bought a twin cylinder Lister generator on ebay and I want to find out a bit more about the engine and generator.  The plate on the engine says 3444ST230-04.  It is a hand crank.  No plate on the generator.  There are two blue and two yellow output sockets and a thick twin and earth cable that has been cut coming out of the box on top of the generator.  A source of spares and manuals would also be helpful. Thanks.

Hello Martin,
Welcome to the forum,
Please post a link to the ebay listing, or take some pictures and post to an online album like photobucket, and link to that.
Pictures will help identify the head, I'm sure you will find all the information and free advice you can use right here.

Hello Martin,

I've got top sets and full sets for the ST2 engine if required.

I also know somebody who may have a few spares - no promises - but let me know
what you want and I'll ask him.

Geoff

Have taken the pictures and now am trying to find out how to download them to a photo site and link them to here.  Thanks for all your suggestions. Martin

Here are the pictures.

If anyone has any information about this genset I would be very pleased to hear it.  Especially the make of the generator as there is no info on the blur plate.

Progress update.  Have discovered that there was no fuel filter so the story of it being a good runner from the chap who sold it on ebay was clearly a bit creative.  The filter bowl was full of sludge.  Am now taking off the fuel tank and clearing all the pipes through to the pumps.  Have a new fuel filter, oil filter and air filter to go on.  Have tried to start her and she goes on one cylinder for a few seconds with clouds of black smoke and then dies.  Am hoping that a thorough clean of the fuel system will improve matters.  Will post progress. Martin

The -04 on the data plate means it is a 50 HZ generator system.

Is there a voltage regulator inside the junction box? The generator might be a Mecc Alta Spa but I've never worked on one this small. The design seems similiar.
