Oh,  Can this be possible to film a 1 to 2 minutes movie of this balanced lister on start up and running under some load so I can have good idea how much vibration it is?

Cheers, Wizard

Well done Rocketboy...
I have followed your work for a few years now and modeled my set-up after yours minus the radiator.
Mobile_Bob brought up expansion chamber and I am interested in learning more about this topic. I started another topic thread for a lengthy, detailed disection of expansion chambers so not to dilute this thread. So lets jump over there and put our heads together so I can kludge something together :)

We're having a genuine cold snap here in Florida. I know its not cold by normal people standards but....

I got up early this morning to see if the liitle engine would start. llng story short....

It started easily. Temperature 45 deg F, engine turned very easily thanks to Rotella Synthetic oil and it hit on the first stroke as usual.
ran without smoke as well.

My twin will barely start using 30wt Rotella on a 45 deg day. Too stiff to get the thing spinning fast enought to kick.

I'm definatley switching to Rotella Synthetic on the twin next oil change.

So now the flywheels are painted to match, Added a coolant temperature gauge, and a control box for the starter system.

Well I hate to be the nay-sayer here, but apparntly Rocketboy and Cujet have this all wrong.  Everyone knows that a Listeroid simply cannot run unless it is embedded in a couple of metric tonnes of reinforced concrete.  Let alone merely sitting on top of a wagon.  Who do they think they are fooling?  But seriously folks....Thanks for the glimpse.  I know I own you both a huge thanks for all the information I have gleaned over the years.  Bravo Zulu boys.

What allot of folks forget,, is the fact that  some small block Chevy's run like wild cats,, and others are dogs.. What you started off with, and ended up with is allot of work, and some luck for it performance.  My 6/1 is mounted on a wheel cart like your and runs well,, but my 14/1 is lag screwed down to 8" thick 6'x6' slab of concrete.  It float the whole pad,, and is always rockin..

Thanks for the time investment, and the time spent with passing it along.

Thanks!

Recent changes include...

1. Discarding the homemade muffler and replacing it with a MIDAS brand compact oval unit. Very quiet now and the overall height is a foot lower. I also put a turn up tip on the outlet to shine the hot exhaust gasses aawy from the operator.

2. Filled the pneumatic tires with water using a tractor tire water fill fitting. The idea was to replace the spongy air with incompressible water to reduce bouncing. After balancing, there was little bounce remaining, but I did it anyway. As expected, it made little if any difference in frame vibration, in fact I'm not going to add a brace to the new muffler as I don't think it will break off at current shaking levels.

3. Adding a remote shutdown lever connected to the lever at the pump. This avoids the need to lean toward toward the moving parts to shut it off.

new performance analysis and pictures coming later......

Yikes!!

Blown head gasket. Gasses are leaking from under one of the smaller head nuts. Retorqing did not work. Need a gasket job.

FWIW, the nuts were plenty loose. Better check the head nuts frequently!

You might want to check cylinder liner protrusion above the cylinder deck.  Should be 0.009" according to Indian source, however I think lesser (like 0.003" - 0.005") is better.  Protruding liners are responsible for lots of blown gaskets.
