My Lister engine HP2, RPM1000
« on: August 23, 2008, 07:05:07 PM »
I inherited from my father a Lister engine. I heard it running in the year 1995. It's in good shape. All the time had it's oil (I refreshed it etc)
My first question is: Can anyone tell me more about this motor? (serial# 1267LD1212) year of built etc. etc.
second question, I cannot make it run. I tried a lot, but it is heavy and has (I think) a lot of compression.
third question, I like to use it like a generator. What do I need?
You have to know I am not technical, so explain me please in understandable English, Dutch, German or Spanish language

Serial # 1267LD1212

1267 is the serial number

LD is the engine type

1 is the number of cylinders

There should be 2 digits next, so if you can confirm the last bit I can give you the year.

My gut feeling is that was Mr. Jeant Tank ( think thats the spelling, if not oops ) one of the Indioan engine builders in Rajkot.

Mr Tank please introduce yourself if that is infact you.

I was dealing with a Mr Jayent Tank from Ashmawegh (from the minipetter saga) that's not the one you meant, is it?

Hi, Auk, I am guessing from your user name that you are in Aukland, New Zeland maybe? If so you would need a 50 cycle (hz) 1500 rpm generator head of the proper kw rating. I dont know what that would be because you didn't state a horse power rating but normally you would need at least 2 hp per kilowatts, so a 6hp will pull a 3 kw gen head. because the engine is 1000 rpm you will need to belt drive the gen head with pullies that will spin the gen head at 1500 rpm. there is lots of info on the forum & a search engine at the top of the page to help locate topics you are interested in, it is slow but our tech people are working on that. also at the top right you can find a link to the Listerenginegallery.com, with pictures others have posted of thier systems. Good luck & Welcome to the forum!
