wrecking yard seattle area recomendations?
« on: June 25, 2008, 03:40:47 PM »
On my annual pilgrimage to the pacific northwest and need to find a powersteering pump for a friends centrifuge setup back home.  Does anyone have any suggestions for wreckers I can check in the seattle area (say Olympia to Mt Vernon maybe).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Fred

My son just made a parts run that way last weekend and he said there was a pretty good one in tacome called "pull-a-part" I think it is in the vicinity of highway 512 and Steel.
PS 6/1 - ST-5.

at the risk of being off topic, since your here, try Specility  Hardware on Harbor Island. They have all sorts of marine surplus electrical stuff.
No financial intrest! But since you came so far, I'm sure you will find something else you need! it is off I5 off the west seattle viaduct.

i will second the vote for pick a part in south tacoma
take I-5 southbound from seattle, go past tacoma city center and keep going about 10 miles or so
take the 512 exit to puyallup and then take the steele street exit
go south to 112th street ( about a quarter mile)
turn right and start looking on your left, they are about 300 yards or so from the intersection.

they have tons of import stuff that have nice p/s pumps with pulleys, easy to mount
and have remote resevoirs to which makes hookup easier in my opinion

they have a flat rate pricing system, probably something like 15bucks for any p/s pump, whether it is
off a pinto or a mercedes, they don't care.

they have a flat cost sheet, engines are something like 150 bucks whether it is a 4 banger or a v8 diesel

pretty cool place,

if you find what you want get it then, because the rotate the cars out about once a week to the crusher
to make room for the new arrivals.

costs a buck to get in, and you get a hand stamp that allows you to come back in and out
over the day.

my favorite place for odd parts :)

there is also one in lynnwood and everett that i know of under the same name.

wear boots if it has been raining, the place can be a swamp in certain rows.

Speaking of airline scams how about this one.  Air Canada now has a "service" that for an extra fee, you get your name put on a list of "preferred" customers so that when through no fault of your own, if your flight is cancelled or there will be a long delay, and you are far from home, you will be "first on the list" to get service to secure a hotel room, meal vouchers etc.

Think that one through!  >:(

I wonder when they'll start charging extra for getting you to your destination safely.  Some of my buddies when I was a kid ran a scam like that with some of the local merchants, charging them a monthly fee to make sure their businesses didn't get vandalized.  That is until one day the cops rounded up a few of them and threw them into "juvie".
