Ran it today for the first time.

Had to shut it down to tighten up a couple things, then let it run for 5 hours . All went well with no smoke, leaks or bad things. Will gin-up a load bank in a few days to see what this baby will really do. Got 3300 watts from it with no problem, Praying for 4000+.

Rocketboy,
How did the copper paint hold up to having a serp. belt run over it??

Congrats on your first big run, RB!  I really admire your copper/charcoal color scheme, and the thoughtful  rebuild job you did, too.

Hey Rocket mine is not nearly as purdy as yours. I had mine running this afternoon with 3500 watt water heater element plus lights. NO PROBLEM!!! Also just a 4500 watt water heater element. Did not like it but will tote the note at 220V 57 Hz with a fair amount of smoke. By the way mine smokes MORE with dino than with vegie/waste motor oil mix  :o

Whow ! Sounds like it is preforming better than expected. Thanks for the figures...
For you electricians out there, is there any kind of an automatic timer that may say, run the freezer and fridge, then the water heater, then the water pump, then the stove, then the air conditioner....etc?  so there wouldn't be any unexpected heavy load hitting all at once. Just a ques. but it sure would be peace of mind & smooth out the bumps and/or possibilities of an unexpected big hit on the engine/gen set up.
Obviously, I'm not an electrician. Any in put?

To answere your question about load management yes....
But it would be involved to wire.

Although far from a perfect solution, you can fake a load management system using appliance timers.  They are readily availavle with starts/stops in 10 or 15 minute increments.  Each timer will typically be rated for 1,500 watts.  The 120V loads would be easy.  The 220 loads would require more expensive industrial timers, as I am unaware of any consumer quality 220V timers.

Again, not a perfect solution.  It's fiddly and requires modest supervision, but it works.

W.W. Grainger has multi-load timers for hot water heaters and other appliances.  I've used them for well pumps, lights and fans in greenhouses.  They're set up for 110/220 and simple to wire.

Dear Rocket Boy,

Sorry, I don't quite recall what makes your oil pressure to push oil through the filter.  Is it equipped with the factory cam driven oil pump?

yep, the 6/1 has an external oil pump driven by the fuel pump cam lobe.
