I have a Metex 6/1 that has about 750 hrs on it.  The 6/1 was purchased from Sam Crosby in Maine, he often lists on eBay.  Sam was very helpful and I am quite happy with the machine.

I did have a problem with the grind on the first crank that I had.  Sam took care of it with a new engine.

I found minimal sand in the second engine and I had to clean up one lifter to get it to rotate.  Otherwise it looked very good and has provided excellent service.

Hi Thnxs...You won't get 4.5 kw out of a 6 hp engine.  Max would be continuous 3kw.  2hp=1kw.  You'd get some peak power a little higher with the big flywheels but only momentary.  Lots of posts on this site to that effect.

I get about 3.5 kW running 24/7 with a 7.5 HP induction motor as a generator.

My 6/1 has been well measured now and it will make 4000 watts with some black smoke. Runs clear at 3600 watts. I expect it will make 10% more power after it breaks in (250 hours).

Seal level, cool air (70 deg) and an ST-5 head.
