I have continued with preparation for paint. The origional paint was knocked off with a needle scaler than I went over it with a powered wire brush on a 4" hand held grinder. After that another wash with solvent to remove any oils or grease. After that another spray off with acetone. Then I masked and prepared for painting;
All the misc parts are laid out for painting,
Then shoot the paint!;
Hanging the engine from the lift truck helps getting at the right angle;
Almost done with the block, ready to start on the flywheels. I slipped the wheels on the shaft and secured with a shaft collar so they would not fall off by accident. I could rotate them easilly to paint all surfaces.
Back in the shop;
Looking good!
After the paint cures I'll start assembly. I use Sherwin Williams Tile-Clad paint. It is a high solids, hi-build two part material. It goes on nice and you can build it up thick to cover up casting pores.
