fixing the rocker pads,,,
« on: April 12, 2008, 05:25:43 AM »
Well, the rocker pads on my 6/1 were all twisted and stoopid when I got them.

Hotater did a nice tutorial about how to fix them, but I  decided I  didn't have the right tooling for that and so I ended up doing mine "freestyle".

It took me several hours, but I think they came out fairly good.

It may not be up to Hotaters specs but it looks like you've improved the surfacing of the rockers 100% over the Indian craftsmanship.  You didn't show us the wipe patterns on the valve stems afterwards, nor the "after" view where the feeler gauge wouldn't fit anymore (assuming it doesn't fit there anymore).

Nice work.

The last photo shows the wipe pattern on top of the lash caps. That's the "clean spots" in the paint.
Can't get any feeler gauge under there now.

Yaaay, way to go big guy!  Please keep up the good work and keep the photos comming!  Seeing things like this inspires me to work on my project!                                  Leland

Good show.  Low-tech solution to a low-tech problem.  It's not a Maserati, or even a Fiat, so a grindstone and eyeballing makes sense.
