Doug,

I will try to get those measurements in the coming days.
You called it a regulator....are you sure it's not a rectifier for the AC current ?

Will advise....

Veggie, in checking out your site as well as this thread I notice you are using the cast legs provided by Changfa. If you look at Utterpowers site in the Changfa section you'll note George STRONGLY urges eliminating them, due to some having broken in use. For your not compleated system, you might consider a redesign based on what you see at George's site. You'll love the engine.

Lev-L-Lock,

Thanks for the head-up on the legs.
Removing them has another big advantage, it lowers the center of gravity on an engine that is already quite tall.

Cheers,
Veggie

Veggie and I have been conversing in the background.  I'll post this here so everybody has the same information.

There is a mistake in the Changfa manual.  I faithfully hooked up my electrics according to the book and managed to cook a battery by feeding it unregulated, unrectified A/C.

Here is a scan from the Changfa manual with a red circle on the error.

Here is my corrected version of the Changfa manual.  Blue indicates an optional connection
for more current.  I added red and green to clarify what wires are connected to the regulator

Finally, here is my own schematic of the same thing.

I hope this helps others avoid problems when they are hooking up their electrics.

Hey Backroad,

You noted that you had removed the two radiators from your changfa's.
When you took them off, did you find a thermostat ???
Just wondering if these rad version engines have any temperature control, or does the water start to thermosyphon through the rad as soon as it starts to get warm ?
