Blimey, where did this thread appear from...?  ;)

OK - Just to be awkward, I'm from two places: Wallasey, Merseyside, UK (that's just on the other side of the Mersey from Liverpool) is where I (currently) live in Summer, is where I have all my toys, etc. But right now, I'm sitting in a rather nice villa just south of Cádiz on the South-West (Atlantic) coast of Spain.

Bob, try looking N. of Spokane, up N. of Bonners Ferry Idaho.  Lots of great land up there, cheap too.  Very nice people, independent!
Stan

I will do that, however, that's a long drive to get there while I build the place by hand before moving there full time.  I have also been told (but haven't actually confirmed) that our Canadian friends have created a pollution problem near the border that can be problem for well water...sort of like what we do to our Mexican friends and everyplace else we export our industrial base to obtain cheap labor...

Bob....They've found some mercury S. of Trail which has been a smelter forever.  All of the pollution would have been from many many years ago, as they now have scrupulous oversight by the environmental guys who are not connected with the smelter in any way.  I don't know what you could do about 100 year old mercury and lead in the river bottom anyway, I think the fuss is over how much $$$$ they want from the smelter people.  I'd just as soon find a place with a creek, and then there's the potential for hydro power anyway.

Near Peterborough, Ontario Canada.  And proud of it! ;D
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, cooperate, solve equations, analyze a new problem, and pitch manure. Specialization is for insects.

Good to know...thanks Stan.  Yes, a creek and hydro is definitely in my plan.  Also have been doing some preliminary design work on a low friction pipe approach to get high velocity, low flow rate water to small turbine from upstream and than back downstream without anything being visible.

I think i would rather be in the 52nd state than part of europe. I think we have a hell of a lot more in common. As for Tea taxes ,you should have paid them as now you have landed up with the IRS.

Whats this, Barack says there's 58 states, not 52?? ::)

Good to have you back Mr. Bodell !!

Fredericksburg is about 3 hours NE of me. I like Fredericksburg, stayed there a couple of times and flew in to an AOPA conference there.
Q: What is the difference between God and Barack Obama?
A: God doesn't think He's Barack Obama.

lowspeedlife/Scott  I've just discovered that this is a resurrected thread from February 2008.
You and I have been talking to long gone ghosts. Now that feels creepy. And really sad too. Sorry to have misled you man.

You 'all can quit laughing now.
And that Gstew follow never did say WHERE he was from.  So who got an audit from the IRS or a visit from the ATF last year, huh?? NOT ME.

Not me...although my daughter (adult) got audited by our Revenuer's Canada and they ended up paying her back money that she should have claimed.  ;D  I don't know how she ended up so small c conservative in claiming her deductions, she sure didn't get it from me?  Made for a good laugh though.  ;D

Aloha,

Nice thread.  Thanks to whoever for starting and reviving it.

We are located in South Kona, Hawaii.  We immigrated from Renton, Washington - USA.  Isn't it interesting how these Listers and Listeroids seem to cluster.  Do you suppose they're pack machines?

I'm still in the heavy dream state of motorizing the Menehune Energy Lab (MEL).   Trusses this month!  March - Catchment tank.  April - Roofing.  See, I told you dream state.
