Under sized rod brgs
« on: January 18, 2008, 05:40:18 PM »
I cannot find -.010 / -.020 / -.030 rod brgs for listers. Can anybody tell me where I can find them? If not do we need to have a run of them made to be able to regrind our crankshafts instead of buying new shafts. These will be for my kids to use in the far future I hope.

Thanks from Curtis Shipp

I have never seen any. Someone may make them.

Contact Atul Patel, with Powerline engines. He seems be the one with all the neat stuff for Listeroids.

Atul couldn't offer me in his words " Quality undersized bearings " so he sent me some standard size premium bearings from IBW.

It maybe better to go for the premium standard size and order a spare crank or throw the dice and see if you can have your crank sub arced and rebuilt ( this posses the risk of warping and hardening to the point of being too brittle to use )

Got an E-mail. George from utterpower has them. I will be buying some as my engines should be around for about 100 years and I am putting in all the parts to keep them running for that length of time. This way my kids and grand kids will be able to use the gensets no matter what happens with EPA and world events.

GG Automotive Gears Ltd. in India also has the undersize rod bearings for the Lister engines. I had -.010, -.020, -.030, and -.040 undersizes in the past but I had one fellow get all that I had so he would have them for the future. I still wonder why he felt the need for 40 sets of undersize rod bearings...............

Maybe he plans on outliving the engine !!! My god what a horrible thought.

When I worked in the automotive machine shop's I would grind cranks as far as -.060 in some old engines. After they went below this we would weld them up on the mains and rods and bring them back to std and set stroke and index better then they were when new. In my case I am just trying to prepare my kids for the future good or bad.

India Brass Works has sent me two emails about bearings.

They know I have 1 Engine and 1 Only.
They know I only want 1 set of unders size.
They would like more info to quote me a price.

I may order some bearings from them, in that case anyone in Canada or USA with need and a Part number ( hi Bond or IBW ) get in touch.

Why don't you get in touch with George at utterpower, he had all of the under sized rod brgs that I needed. They came from IBW and they look great. Why waste shipping cost from India when you can get them from the west coast.

Dare I say his future was putting them on ebay at twice the price he paid to you?

I have a set of original Lister -40 bearings which I shall keep.  They may come in useful sometime, either as -40, -20 or as - less than that, who knows?  Favourite is that they will never get used by me.

Regards, RAB

No one stocks any significant anything for Petteriods Curtis.

Infact if you need injectors, gaskets, valves, pistons, liners, rings.....

Well the only guy with DM10 parts is me ( and I'm not in the parts suply/engine sales buisness ).

That much said if a big Petter owner out there needs something he just can't get I can hardly say no.

All sales at cost or prefer trade, I'm just trying to help out.

I thought you were looking for big end brgs for a listeriod CS. Sorry for the mistake. The brgs I bought were for the CS style engine.
