You can tell this is a real Petter...look at all the exhaust oil smoke. 

Thing that confuses me is how this turns over on just a single 12 volt battery.  I thought all these combo alternator/starter/starting battery charging generators supplied from England with the Listers and Petters were 24 volt DC as is mine.

Yeah, it starts the thing using brute force with a really big starter. The genset is mounted on a four rubber wheel cart so it bounces a lot. I just added cast  2.5 lb lead counter weights to the uncounter weighted flywheels and this help dramatically. Next I am going to fill the tires with H2O to remove more flex. Runs smoother now that the large spoked flywheels did.

Still messing with it. Need to put the radiator on and coolant pump, but looks promising.

Need more information on real petter electric sets.....

Onan built the DJA diesel set with a 2000 watt head direct coupled that would crank on 12 volt so it can be done.

Not enough info on the Petter inthe clip to draw conclusions.
Another Peter to the rescue moment with technical info??

Is this thing for a Lister CS?  How do you get one of these Mike M starter rings?  It looks like it might be a good way to go.
