Sorry if this has been mentioned before


So

my lister Gen head is 50 yrs old
it has been sitting for at least 10yrs

we've taken an end off to reveal the brushes - still in good nick

all manner of cobwebs etc - we'll get the air line on to that

but there seems to be a carbon residue all thru it

can I sleuce it in meths safely ?

any other non "shorting" cleaning fluid recomended

yes -we are lazily trying to avoid a major overhaul

or apply the leave well alone principle

other than the insect dross - we know the last coupla owners



is carbon residue that common or that big a deal ?
