i have often wondered about issues of explosion when working with biodiesel in some of these homebrew setups
also am reminded of how gunpowder facilities are setup (at least the black powder ones) where the walls are not much more than
cardboard so that if there is an explosion the folks insided have a small chance at survival.
got to wonder how well one would hold up in a well built and sealed up structure if there were to be an explosion,
first you get crushed, then you get toasted or flame broiled!
i have seen the remains of a 60x120 ft metal building after an unfortunate welding accident set off an empty tanker trailer
that had been hauling condensate.
nothing left of the building except for the main girders, all the metal siding and all the purlains and the end rollup doors were all over hells half acre
actually piece were found up to a quarter mile away.
nobody was injured or killed, and there were 4 other guys and the welder in the building at the time.
i knew the guy what was welding, all he said was he didn't hear a thing, just felt a pressure wave, lifted his helmut and all there was
was blue sky and clear concrete! the tanker split in two sending one half out one end of the building and the other out the opposite end.
that had to feel like shit! i cannot imagine how he felt, lucky on one hand that he and others survived without injury, but responcible for the loss of
not only the trailer but the complete building!
i hope like heck i never have something like that happen.
