Anyone else find Listerenging.com slow?
« on: November 23, 2006, 01:25:41 AM »
Got tired of staring at the "waiting for listerengine.com" sign and went and checked my download speed and it's registering just over 500Kb/s so it isn't me.  I guess it could be some server between me and listerengine.com.

Yep, very slow for me as well. I'm on DSL.  It took me a couple of days to register because it kept timing out.

Today it seems really slow.

Usually worth the wait  ;D

Winsock timeout messages are the system/browser telling you that it cannot get a response from the remote site.

There are default settings for this timeout value which I think can be changed with regedit in Win2Kpro but I have never done it myself.

I forget the actual value, but if your browser hasn't got a response back from the remote site then it will flag up the fact with the error message.

This site was uncontactable yesterday for much of the day but was back online last evening.

I haven't done any snooping, but my guess is that the log files are getting full and that the databases need to be compacted.  Clean the machine up and it'll probably run like a German clock.  I started out getting the periodic fsock error, and now we've moved onto slow/no response from server and "could not connect to database" errors.  Usually this sort of thing is caused by nothing more than disk thrash.  Of course, it may be that something that actually makes money runs on this box as well as our little site, and the primary application has gotten busier recently.

Sam,
It was slow in town last week, even on DSL and high speed....but since we all compained it seemed to speed up a little in the city. However I am in the country now on Slow speed hook up, and expect it to be slower, which it is. I am not timing out yet, and thing are eventually coming through. Am trying to be patient. binnie (enjoy your posts to the forum).

Went to site early Sunday AM EST USA (trying to beat my son to the computer) and there was a 'website suspended' notice. I spent the day mourning all the lost info that I hadn't gotten to yet. Was back up when I tried later in the day. Has anyone got a hard copy???

BTW  Whoever it is that set up and runs this site,   THANK YOU
