Greetings to all!

How I made it to this site still not entirely clear, one minute I was in a discussion group deciding which Moto Guzzi was/is the ultimate to own,

Clearly, seeing as I owned one, a full termignoni / raceco upgraded 1100 sport, the proper one with the carbs.

I sold mine, only way to keep my licence, proper hooligans machine.

Hi I have seen pictures of three wheel carts or trucks (antiques). They were driven by the front wheel which was the steering.
I can't seem to remember where.
There was a small train, lister powered too.
The odd lawnmower, roller
These were from the 30's I think

Can't speak to the trains or rollers, but the trucks are probably Lister Autotrucks:

Here's a pic:

Usually powered by the LD1 Lister engine, rated power at 1800 RPM from what I can find.

Er,

I can't help but notice that the engine in the pic is attached to the frame by what appears to be a set of leaf springs.
I take it that it's driving the wheel underneath through a reduction/clutch unit under the engine?
I presume that wheel is pneumatic? So that engine's just sort of jiggling there?

We all know where I'm heading with this.  :D

Apart from the fact that it's air-cooled, what are the main differences between an LD1 and a CS? Less piston/flywheel mass? Higher speed?

how similar are the crankshafts?

do they have 2 main brgs or is the crank supported by wider mains or 4 mains?

Bob,

That's no helmet.  That pic was taken in the 1970s, and that's the guy's real hair.  They used a LOT of hairspray in those days.   ;D

That truck is fugly!!!  I don`t know whether to laugh or cry.  Did the police ever use these with an enclosed cargo area as paddy wagons?  ;D

I don't know I thinks its kind of cool looking .....

LD1s are still common here in the drilling buisness. Its amazing to see a rig set up in the bush some place crewed by guys significantly younger than the Long year 38 he's drill on on or the LD1 that feeding it suply water.

Some designs are timeless and remain in service because they work ,and when they breal a monkey can fix it...

Pretty advanced actually.  You didn`t know that it has a 60 MPH front bumper did you!?  The significant mass up front (flywheel) that will clobber you in any head-on collision has a surface speed of 60 MPH.   ::)

Does anyone know if Lister made any Diesel-electric drivelines in their trucks?
