Is this part of a Changfa?
« on: September 27, 2006, 02:37:53 AM »
This brass thing (2 of them) were in a rented trailer after I moved 2 ChangFa engines... maybe they fell out of the crates (which were in rough shape), or are from someone else's stuff ... I found them when I swept out the trailer.

That looks like a standard issue vatican rotary rectal probe. Nowadays fits on a portable drill in place of the chuck, but traditionally used with a brace (as in brace and bit, remember those?)  The design of the flutes indicate that the design is clearly not to remove sh*t, just disturb it ....but I might be mistaken.  ;D

Thanks! The person before me moved a piano, and one opinion is that they look like piano "bits".

Funny part is that they screw into the red knob on the throttle thing... perfectly... of which speaking, why is that thing threaded? What would screw into there... anyway?

I am not Catholic, or I would ask the Pope.

No need to bother the pope, simply ask to speak to a rector.

How long are they?  They look a little like (cheap) piano pedals, but those would be at least 6" long or better.  Definitely NOT a ChangFa item.

In contrary, though, I find the quality of my R185 ChangFa to be quite good from fit and finish.  Certainly not Yanmar or Kubota, but pretty darn nice.

It fits in a slot near the front of the piano keyboard and is moved right or left to change the pitch of the sound. Only the flattened part is visible when installed. I am sure the guy with the piano would be very interested in getting this back.

oldnslow: Thanks! I wanted to make sure it was not a ChangFa part before I call U-Haul to look up the piano folks, who are probably now paying for the 4 holes their piano put in the floor of the U-Haul.

Hmmm... I phoned U-Haul, small town franchise... the guy who knows the piano story was busy, so they suggested I "drop them off".

I suggested that if they are going to throw them into a corner somewhere, I might not want to go out of my way to drop them off. I suggested the owner, who knows about the piano people, can call me and arrange something more definite, or assure me that he will contact the folks.

Anyway, clerk started quoting U-Haul privacy policy. That is when I said to have the owner call me. I figure they will put them away somewhere, and unless the people call and ask about the parts, they will just get thrown out someday.
