Lister Clone "Power Line" Brand 10/1 Glow Plug

Hello,

I have a Lister clone "Power Line" brand 10/1 that will not start. I was wondering if someone would please make some recommendations for what type of tests to run?

I tried to start it about a week ago while the temperatures were in the 60s before the cold weather descended upon us here in North Carolina.

With my small gasoline engines the first thing that I do is spray starter spray into the carburetor and or the cylinder head. But this generator might have a glow plug.

Don't use the ether for starting!!!!!! Damage to the piston rings can result.
When turning over the engine, can you hear the injector creaking? If not, you'll need to bleed the fuel system.
If yes, is there good compression?
If no, is a valve stuck open? Are the rings seating?
If compression is good and you have injector creak, , and it is cold (as in near freezing temperatures) remove the air filter and use a propane torch directed into the intake to heat up the intake for a couple of minutes, then try a start.
That's the short version.
Always worked for me, even when there was ice on the flywheels!

That sounds like a good idea. I will listen for that injector creak. I did empty the fuel out of the fuel filter housing so there might be some air in the line.

Air in the filter housing is a good possibility. A replacement cartridge holds a lot of tiny air bubbles and it takes some work to get them all out.
I have personal experience with this. Even if you get an injector creak and an engine start,  it may not run normally.....that indicates a bit more bleeding is required.
Start at the bleed port in the filter, then at  the top of the injector pump (wish I had a diagram) When you have clear fuel there, go to the injector.

Thanks for all of the great advice. It's much warmer here in NC plus I bled the fuel lines. Now it is running great.
