New member old machine

Hello everyone
I've joined this group with the hope of restoring and using a stationary engine that has been in our family for generations.
As a brief history my grandfather and father farmed for years using stationary engines, we used one (a Petter I think) for running a generator and a lister for running a saw bench and elevator.
We still have both engines but the Lister is mounted on a trolley, so mobile and I'd like to see if it will still run to power the original saw bench again?
I am a mechanic so can work on it myself but I know nothing about them so thought it best to seek some advice before attempting anything

Your engine is a type A built in 1934. I'm in tbe USA but in England there are a few parts around from engines broken down for parts. Stationary Engine parts would have a few things for it. If the magneto needs work you would be best to search for a repair shop in your area. The rest of it is basic mechanics. I have one on a 32 volt DC Lister lighting plant
