How would I know if my fuel pump is going bad?
(1/1)
tyssniffen:
I'm starting to wonder if I'm not getting enough pressure out of my fuel pump into my 61. I have recently replaced the injector which worked perfectly for a few good runs. Then, I had 1:05 hour run, and as I was shutting it down. I thought it was strange that I couldn't hear the squeak of the injector a week later, I come to do another startup, and it won't start when I flip the injector upside down. And And crank it over, I get much more like a squirt from a squirt gun than a mist in a cloud.
This is from the new injector so that makes me think I'm not getting enough pressure into the injector.??
What do you all think? How can I figure this out?

If the injector is squirting instead of making a mist and not sqauking then the pintle is stuck open in the tip. Could be from a defective part, could be due to contamination when you had the line off, could be your filter isnt doing a good job. Remove the tip and you will find the pintle stuck.

Great answer. Great suggestion. I will do that and report back.
