Does size matter?
« on: September 15, 2025, 03:06:21 AM »
I have found/purchased a Lovson 6/1 from a local person. I will be disassembling for cleaning before running. It has a red paint on the inside, but it is flaking. This find is NIB and has never been run. I have found/downloaded the article by 38ac and have read it thoroughly. My question is about generator sizing. For me a 5kw head would be right for this engine albeit slightly oversized. I have found a NIB ST 7.5kw within a 2-hour drive but wonder if this is too big. I'm concerned that the 7.5kw will have so much more mass it will actually affect my total output. The ST head is priced right at $495. Pix posted.

In my opinion, there is no problem coupling a 7.5kw head to a 6/1.
You will never be in danger of overloading the head and the 3kw that you get from the system is probably in the "sweet spot" for the generator. It will run nice and cool.
Many people have used a 7.5kw head with a 6/1 lister(oid)

Good luck with your project
