Hi all. Brand new member here who is finally getting around to restoring the Lister 3/1 I picked up back in early 2019. The poor old thing had been sitting out in the weather with hundreds of other bits of machinery at a property in Bookham, NSW, Australia.
So far I have pulled the motor down completely, and there is some good, and a fair bit of bad. There was no piston, but it'll need a rebore anyway so that doesn't matter. The crank needs to go 20 thou under, main journals are fine. The head, cylinder, and block are all good and crack free. Curiously though, the valve seats are apparently done for yet the valves look ace. So I need to source some new seats.
I have just ordered a ton of new parts from our QLD purveyor of Lister goodies (Old Timer Engines) and they should be here in a few days.
BTW, I am not sure of the build date for this motor. I tried to understand the logic behind the serial number, but I failed. I *think* it might be about 1935 but I'm not sure.
Cheers,
Pete
