LPWS3 idle in gear problem
« on: May 30, 2025, 05:26:13 PM »
Hi all I have a LPWS3 build 42
Idle speed from the manual should be 850 to 950
Which it is
When warm the engine struggles in idle when forward or astern is selected she needs more fuel
I have changed the main fuel filter and the secondary and this seemed to fix the issue when engine was still fairly cool the prop is also very clean
After a trip out and engine is operating temp she struggles when manoeuvring in the marina to maintain idle in gear
Should I adjust the idle speed up?
I should say the engine is meticulously maintained and injectors were refurbished not that many hours ago
Any thoughts appreciated

when the injectors were out ...
was the compression checked?
De-coked recently?

could be that one of the fuel pump lobes has worn more than its friends and at low demands is more noticeable.

or just a spring that has lost some of its temper and the rpm's are not stable at idle ...
or the prop is worn and one of the blades is catching less water ( i kinda doubt )

video to help explain what you mean by struggle ....

yea, it gets quiet some times in the forum ....
