Original Lister Cs Engines / injector help
« on: September 03, 2011, 06:12:47 PM »
Hi I have been running my original 8/1 S.O.M on used veggi oil . It has run fine for the past 2,500 hrs until 2 days ago when I forgot to switch over to the wvo on start up,my diesel start up shut down tank is only 1 gallon so in about 2 hrs it ran out of fuel.
The next day I tried bleeding the air out which I have never had a problem with before but with no success.
The pump and injector are not original but mico bosch when I rebuilt the engine the originals where to far gone to save, I have since acquired another 8/1 S.O.M as well as a VA.Thinking it was the pump I first changed this with no success then tried the injector from the 8/1 but found that it only pumped the fuel out of the fuel return and would not pop off.I then used the ingector from the VA ran first compression stroke.  ;D
Now to get to what I want to ask the mico bosh pump does not spray a mist but more of a stream and if in the engine and try to crank under compression the pressure looks as if it tries to back into the pump ??? could this be and if so can I repair it. And also is there any hope for the original injector that will not spray but only bypasses the fuel.

Thanks for any help

Yes I think the most noticeable difference is the noise of the fan

Its a fuel return line for bypass fuel from the injector, return to tank or a collection vessel.

If I remember correctly it is anti clockwise to loosen, large head but only about a half inch bolt. It is on a keyed taper shaft a puller is not normally needed a swift rap will normally work.

I have swapped these before and have not noticed any difference.I have also used the 8/1 injectors from central Maine diesel with good results.

Whats the wattage of the gen head , perhaps it was run at 850 R.P.M. to boost H.P. for a larger head.

Are you sure its a 6/1 the  8/1 used the alloy pistons due to the increased R.P.M.

Bottleveg yes the bridge is replacing a selenium rectifier but the resister is original I guess I am wondering if whoever replaced it got the wiring right I don't want to let the magic smoke out over silliness. All of the diagrams that I have seen don't seem to show this in the circuit

Chris it has me baffled as it is its hooked in parallel with the bridge rectifier which to me makes no sense unless its to keep a constant load on the currant transformer which supplies the ac to the bridge.

I am in the process of rebuilding a Lister VA, I am having to replace all of the wires in the gen head but i am having a problem in figuring out what the small wire wound variable resistor is for or how it should be wired . The large one I think is the shunt field regulator but I cannot see in any of the diagrams that I can find what the small one is any one familiar with one of these.
