Dave,

Is it sitting on concrete or sand?

What is the orange tapered block against or next to the flywheel for?

Is the thump you hear just intake or exhaust related, or do you also get the combustion event being transferred through the ground?  I'm thinking not since it's a horizontal, but figured that I'd ask.

Finally, what are you doing for a cooling system?

Thanks,

Steve

Wow!!!!  Re-chrome is much more expensive there than here.

I'm shocked! :o

Absolutely, I agree, new Indian parts it is!

Please keep us posted on how well they fit, and if they're identical.

Steve

Tijmen,

There is no reason to replace those cylinders.

There are places that will remove the old chrome finish and re-plate a new chrome layer back on.  I believe Lister called their process "cracked chrome" and all they did was chrome the liners and reverse the polarity at the end to "crack" the surface.  The chrome plating guys know about this process.  Cost here in the US is about the same as the liners from India.

I have two cylinders that are similar to yours.  I am planning on having mine re-chromed because I know the quality will better in the end.

In the marine world, on big ship engines, they often re-chrome the liners rather than replacing them.  You just need to find the place that does it in your area.

Also, they will build the new chrome surface thick enough to return the bore to the factory size and then properly hone it.  They will likely need your pistons to measure.

Finally, I've been told that we have to re-chrome our liners.  Apparently they can't strip them and then use Nikasil and have it last.  It was recommended to me to have them re-chromed.  This is what I was told.

I would suggest googling "cylinder re-chroming" or "cylinder re-plating" or just "cylinder plating."  I don't know the terms in your native language, but if you try searching in your country for it, you will find it.

This company has two locations in the UK.  You might consider trying them.

http://www.langcourt.com/index.htm

See if you can contact Sjamp van Esch in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.  He knows the Nikasil process and would likely know of other plating places or may be able to help you out.  I don't have contact info for him, but I'm wondering if he would be in the telephone directory.  I read a post that he is working as a plating engineer in Eindhoven.  http://www.finishing.com/219/09.shtml

I also found this company in The Netherlands that does Nikasil plating of cylinders.  They will also likely be familiar with re-plating chrome.

Finally, here is a list of chrome plating companies in The Netherlands.  You will have to find who does cylinders:

I've posted this before, but based on where this thread is at, I believe a reminder is in order.

I would strongly, strongly recommend all here take the time to watch the Crash Course.

Also, read about Chris Martenson, as he approaches this stuff from the most neutral perspective that I'm aware of.

Well worth the time imho!

it has been the motto of the liberals for what seems like forever

"create the crisis, provide the solution"

when you ascribe to that modus operandi, you stand to make millions, billions and if you do a really good job "trillions" of dollars.

to these folks "government" much like a hammer see's every problems as a nail.

hard for me to see government as anything other than a framing hammer just waiting to tenderize my thumb.

Yeah, kind of like GW did with Iraq...

Collectively we need to lose the repub/lib mentality as it's a complete waste of time.  Both parties are now the same and it's all a big charade.  Ever heard of divide and conquer?  We've bought into it hook line and sinker with the repub/lib mentality and it's why the sleazoids in power have been able to remain there.

I've written about this before.

So, assuming everything presented is factually correct, since my "person" has a contract with the state, i wonder how one would legally go about breaking said contract?

What I'm getting at, is under the law, one cannot sign away their rights in advance.  Hence, if the rights to my person were delegated to the state following my birth by my legal guardians (parents),  I, now as an adult, should be able to legally change, break or revoke said contract or terms of.

Similar to how one changes their legal name, only in this case, it would be to nullify the contract and designation of my legal "person" altogether.

Do we have an attorney in our midst?

Good videos!

Thanks for posting them.

"This goes back hundreds of years to when a King made a contract with the Pope and the Pope claimed ownership of all land."

I wonder how this applies to the in Indian Reservations here in the US.  Technically they are sovereign nations with everything that goes along with that.  Would be interesting to find out...

I'm going to research what he has presented to see if it's mirrored here in US law.  Since US law is based on UK law, I'd guess that it is, but it would be interesting to find out.

Again, thanks!

"the single biggest reason the enviroment is in the mess it is caused by greed."

100% correct Doug.

We are also witnessing the implosion of capitalism first-hand.  For those that think it's not, don't kid yourself.

"So long as people wish to live under people like like Mugabe, or that nut job in Iran... nothing we can do except invade them"

Andrew, with all due respect, you are way, way off with this statement.  What would you like them to do, throw dirt clods at the military guys holding automatic weapons?

"people wish.."

Give me a break dude!  Have you EVER walked down a sidewalk lined on both sides with military police holding automatic weapons that is 40 officers long?  I have, in a third world country no less, and I can tell you it's more than a little intimidating.  Walking a gauntlet like that with them all looking at you is very unnerving even if you've done nothing wrong.

Again, please explain how an unarmed population is supposed to rise up with no help.  Have you visited Darfur lately?  How about Iran?  Maybe you should and you could instruct the folks that have tried to rise up how they could do it better.

Regarding Bob's comment about cutting off the head of the snake, I couldn't agree more.  This constant war BS needs to end as it's bankrupting this country.  Further, there is simply no need for it on many, many levels.  Limit the fighting to professional sports and be done with it.

Funny thing is, I bet if the masses were treated fairly and equitably, there would be far less war and very little to no reason for it.  It's the concentration of wealth that leaves folks hungry, broke, homeless, etc that causes them to rise up and support assholes who promise them the world...

I was reading this thread and just Googled to see where I could buy it.  In the process, I came across this thread about using it inside of engine blocks...

Also, if you scroll about 2/3 of the way down, check out the electric motor that one of the posters just finished rebuilding.   :o
