if your doing radiant floor heating don't they make electric heaters that can be put in the floor? To avoid the water.

I find it hard to believe they still use thimerosal to preserve stuff.

It's still in our vaccines!  :o >:(

Yes >:(

Does your state require solar/wind/hydro for net-metering? or can you sell listeroid power to the grid?

What about a non metalic water jacket?

I found carbonfiber conducts heat so that's out.

Perhaps fiberglass or a moulded shell over the cast iron one.

Thanks I'll give it a try.

you forgot one.... the free N.O.S.E. detector does you no good when sleeping.

As for operating an IC engine in a confined space, sometimes it's unavoidable. I've seen many installs of Diesel and gasturbine backup generators in small rooms without CO detectors, Mostly in NYC office buildings.

I think the greates danger is when they are near sleeping chambers.

installing a solar system here in NJ can be used as a backdoor means to establish net-metering for a Lister here, Plus the State will foot a large chunk of the install bill.

How many people here operate their Listeroid in or near their living space, and do you have CO detectors?

wather or not our fuel of choice is a hazard, we still should look at the gen head and more importantly the wiring used to supply our loads.

Audi/VW will be retiring the PD soon and transition to the comin rail setup like most other modern auto diesels. The reason cited was to comply with new emmision regs.

My only gripe with your idea is the use of a timing belt, on a TDI they are only rated for 60K miles/2000 hours/4 years service intervals, but the newer ones last a little longer. A timing chain would laster longer like the one on my Mercedes 300D 378KMi and still going.

I've heard of the ATF in the fuel bit, I have also heard that the formula has been changed over the years.

What is CAO?

my primary interest in a Listeroid is cheap power from free WVO, the heat is just a bonus.

if you just want heat from wood look at this. www.newhorizoncorp.com

No I havent played must with oil burners just some army surplus stuff. There is a really cool ad in HomePower #109 for a wood stove the makes and then burnes wood gas. I'll see if I can find it again.

Yea I was a little disapointed about the smart turbo, For a Listeroid it shoud be easy just a steel plate with feeder tube(s) from the exhaust. putting one on a Yanmar clone for a motorcycle is gonna be a pain, in that case I'd hack off the manifold and weld it. but only if it provided any benifit over the IHI you found.
