I kind of agree, especially on a hand crank engine. Starting fluid is much more volatile than diesel so you have a pretty good chance of a preignition situation, possibly causing a nasty kickback.

Beside the point is the breaking of the metal bits inside

What worked for me was to remove the injector nozzle from the head and connect it to injector pump kind of hanging outto one side (not in the head), then put your safety glasses on and keep your body parts away from the tip, rock the flywheel back and forth over the injection point and let the pump do its thing. If you got most of the air out by bleeding, 5 minutes of this should get a nice shpritz of fuel each time you go over. Replace the parts the way they came out and try to start.

Hope it works

Listeroid Engines / Re: So if you had a choice....

Mine is a Metro, Checked thoroughly and found the crackcase clean of sand, I do have problems w/ pushrod rotation but to be fair I havent spent much time or effort there. Havent had any problems w/ splash oiling, Trbs seem fine without a pump, my question would have to be: What are the mains, Trbs or bushings, if bushings youll need some better way to lube them besides splash.

I think any of these engines are a work in progress, lots of time to get a dead reliable result.

If youre looking for a turn key machine, look to another type altogether. Or a "real" CS.
